Mark Coleman, the legendary retired UFC fighter, was airlifted to the hospital after saving his parents from a terrible house fire in Fremont, Ohio. Coleman, according to his manager, Michael DiSabato, is still in intensive care since his health is critical. At 4 a.m. on Tuesday, a fire broke out in the family’s kitchen, waking up the former champion to the barking of the family’s dog, Hammer. Coleman rushed to help his parents after receiving an alert from his pet.
He saved his father and then his mother, but he couldn’t get his beloved cat out of the blazing house. As a result, he returned to the house but was unable to save Hammer, who died there. Coleman experienced severe smoke inhalation during the rescue, although he had no visible injuries.
“UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman was involved in a house fire last night and rescued his father and mother from the flames. He ran back in to save his dog, who had woken him up and alerted him to the fire. Coleman passed out in the house while attempting to save his dog and was flown to the hospital after suffering severe smoke inhalation,” MMA Orbit said.

Meanwhile, his daughter, Morgan Coleman shared an update on her father’s health on Instagram. Her post featured a family photo of herself, her father, and her sister, Mackenzie. Recalling the horrific incident, she told how her father rescued his parents but lost their pet in the big fire. She stated that her father is “currently battling for his life after this heroic act.” She characterized her father as a “lifelong fighter” and asked everyone to pray for his health during this difficult time. In honor of their beloved pet, she said, “We will miss our sweet Hammer so deeply”.
