In Los Angeles, a trial for the invasion of privacy claim brought forth by Vanessa Bryant about images of her deceased husband Kobe Bryant’s fatal helicopter accident began on Wednesday. Their helicopter was struck by a mountain area outside Los Angeles in January 2020. It killed nine people, including the basketball star and his teenage daughter. Vanessa Bryant claims that she had mental agony as a result of law enforcement officers and firefighters in Los Angeles taking images of the incident and sharing them with friends and emergency workers.
The story of Vanessa Bryant is identical to that of Chris Chester. Chris lost his wife and daughter, who was 13 years old, in a similar crash. The families of several other victims received $2.5 million in a settlement last year for the photo-taking. The pictures were taken, according to Los Angeles County’s attorneys, but they were never released and have since been deleted.
Kobe Bryant’s wife has also filed a lawsuit against the helicopter charter business
Additionally, Vanessa Bryant has filed legal action against the pilot’s estate as well as the helicopter charter business. Her lawsuit states, “Mrs. Bryant feels ill at the thought that sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and members of the public have gawked at gratuitous images of her deceased husband and child. She lives in fear that she or her children will one day confront horrific images of their loved ones online.”
On Wednesday, there was a jury of four men and six women chosen. The pilot of the Sikorsky S-76 had likely been disoriented after flying into the fog. Bryant had a wonderful career. In a career that spanned from 1996 until his retirement in 2016, he won five NBA championships. He also won two gold medals in the Olympics, helping the US NBA team win championships in Beijing and London in 2008 and 2012, respectively.
