The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to decide the fate of India’s tour of South Africa at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday in Kolkata.

The Indian team was scheduled to fly to South Africa on 8th December just after the completion of the second Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. However, as of now, things are unclear whether the BCCI will stick to the same plan or not. The national selection committee hasn’t even announced the squads, indicating that the tour is most likely to be shortened.

According to the 24-point agenda, the members are expected to take a decision on the South Africa tour. In the meeting, there would be discussions on the senior men’s team’s performance in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, and matters related to the National Cricket Academy would also be deliberated on. Also, the decision on a contract renewal for the selectors will be taken, the appointment of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff will be officially approved.

“We will have absolute clarity soon”: Virat Kohli on India’s tour of South Africa

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli stated that the team has been in constant touch with the BCCI regarding the tour. India tour of South Africa begins with a three-match test series on December 17, followed by as many ODI games and four T20Is.

”You want to have clarity and you want to be in a situation where you know exactly what is going on. We have to be realistic as well. We cannot just ignore the things that potentially could put you in a confusing place. And no one wants to be there. We have been talking to the Board. And we are pretty confident that within a day or two or pretty soon we will have absolute clarity as to what is going on,” Kohli said.

“The tour is on as things stand till now. We still have time to decide. The first Test is scheduled from December 17. (https://teamtapper.com) We will ponder about it. Players’ security and health have always been BCCI’s first priority, we will do everything possible for this. We will see what happens in the days to come,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI a few days back.
