The T20 World Cup, hosted in UAE, gets its winner. In the battle of best vs best, mighty Australia dominated and destroyed New Zealand. Australia wins its first T20 world cup trophy. The Finals: Mitchell Marsh man of the match

Undoubtedly, Marsh’s 77 of 50 is one of the best performances in the history of the T20 world cup finals. Australia lost their captain in the early overs of their innings but Marsh and Warner’s 92 run partnership for the second wicket, set the base for the victory. 

David Warner man of the tournament

After having a quiet IPL season, there were speculations and worry about Warner’s form right before the tournament. But, David Warner became the pillar of Australia’s trophy win. With a phenomenal comeback, he scored 289 runs in 7 matches with a strike rate of 146. He bagged the man of the tournament title. 

Most runs in the tournament- Babar Azam

Pakistan’s skipper and opener, Babar Azam with 303 runs became the highest run-scorer of the tournament. He is followed by Warner with 289 runs, Rizwan with 281, and Jos Buttler with 269 runs. Babar surpassed Kohli in becoming the fastest batter to score 2,500 runs in T20I. 

First captain to score 3 consecutive 50s- Babar Azam

Babar Azam becomes the first captain to score 3 consecutive 50s in the tournament. His tournament scores include 68*, 9, 51, 70, 66, and 39.

Hasaranga finishes with most wickets

Sri Lanka’s spinner Wanindu Hasaranga finishes with most wickets this season. The leg spinner made an impact on the UAE pitches by taking 16 wickets in 8 matches at an economy of 9.75. Not only this, Hasaranga in the game against South Africa, became the first Sri Lankan player to score a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. He is the third player in history to accomplish this, following Brett Lee (2007) and Curtis Campher (2021).
