Team Abu Dhabi announced on Twitter on Friday that Former England wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor will serve as an assistant coach for the squad for the upcoming T10 League season.
“Coming into this franchise world, you get players and coaches coming in from all around the world where it may not necessarily be the norm. But I’d love to think that some young girl or some woman watching can see me in the coaching team. And realize that’s an opportunity and they can push for it, saying ‘If she can do it, why can’t I?’,” said Sarah Taylor.
“I do hope that it becomes a little more normal. And I may be the first but I won’t be the last. Coaching is my passion and it’s kind of going down the men’s route, which is really exciting,” she added
Sarah Taylor, who is widely regarded as one of the best wicket-keepers in the world, is also a specialist coach of the Sussex men’s team. She has recently played for Welsh Fire in Women’s Hundred 2021, having retired from international cricket in 2019. Taylor won two World Cups and the Women’s World T20 in a stellar career.
In her international career, Taylor played 10 Tests, 126 ODIs, and 90 T20I matches for the England women’s cricket team. She will join head coach Paul Farbrace alongside South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener with the Abu Dhabi team. The fifth edition of the T10 league will kick start from November 19 to December 4.
