Virat Kohli's ODI captaincy

BCCI on Wednesday announced that Rohit Sharma will be India’s ODI and T20I captain. The opening batter, who captained India in the T20Is against New Zealand, will now take up the full-time responsibility as India’s captain in limited-overs cricket. Rohit will take over from Virat Kohli in the 50-over format, from the three-match ODI series in South Africa. Kohli will continue to lead India in red-ball cricket.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward.#TeamIndia | @ImRo45 pic.twitter.com/hcg92sPtCa

One of the main reasons behind Kohli’s sacking as an ODI captain is he failed to guide India to an ICC title. Under Virat Kohli’s ODI captaincy, the Indian team won several historic bilateral series which makes him one of the most successful ODI captains in Indian history. He led India to the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. India reached the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019.
