On March 4, 2022, the cricketing fraternity received heart-wrenching news. Australian spin king Shane Warne passed away at the age of 52 due to a sudden heart attack. Fox Sports first broke the news about the sudden demise of the cricketer. Warne’s management released a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday. He passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” the statement reads. “The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

Between 1992 and 2007, Warne appeared in 145 Tests and 194 One-Day Internationals. With his beautiful bowling, he literally made the batsmen dance on their feet. Moreover, he has a total of 1001 wickets in his illustrious international career. During his tenure with Australia, the leg spinner established a historic career. He was affectionately known as ‘Warnie.’ After retiring, he certainly continued to be a popular personality; establishing a successful broadcasting career as a pundit and expert.

Following his retirement, Shane Warne became famous for captaining and coaching Rajasthan Royals to a fairy-tale title win in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008.

It was a sad sad day for fans of Australian cricket. Earlier today, another Australian legend, former keeper-batsman, Rod Marsh passed away at the age of 74. Marsh died in an induced coma at Royal Adelaide Hospital after suffering a heart attack in Queensland last week.
