Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma has finally broken his silence over Virat Kohli’s form. Team India won the T20I series against England 2-1. Kohli certainly attempted to be bold and charged on the bowlers early in both games. However, he struggled to hold down the crease for an extended period of time. Rohit Sharma spoke to reporters after the third T20I.
He addressed the media questions regarding the future of Virat’s selection in the team. “It is not difficult for us as we do not listen to the outside noise. I don’t know who the experts are. I don’t even understand why they are called experts. They are watching it from the outside, they don’t know what is going on inside. We are building a team. We have a certain thought process. A lot of deliberation goes behind it. There is a lot of thinking behind it. Boys are backed. Boys are given chances. People outside don’t know all these things. It is not important what is going on outside,” said Rohit.

Given that he averaged above 70.00 in T20Is last year, Kohli had incredible results. However, he has only participated in four games so far this year, and three of those games have been abject failures. Adding to the misery, he has performed poorly in the IPL in 2022. His performance has declined across all formats, which may be a serious issue for India going into the T20 World Cup.
Nonetheless, the Indian captain doesn’t feel like it is something to worry about. Slamming all the trolls, Rohit said, “If you talk of form, it goes up and down for everyone. The quality of a player never goes down and we should remember that. When you make certain comments, you should always remember that the quality of a player does not go down. We back that quality. It has happened with me.”
He further added, “It has happened with XYZ. It has happened with everyone, it is nothing new. When some player has done so well consistently for so long, that can’t be written off in one or two series or one or two years. It takes people time to understand it completely, but those who are running the team know the importance of that quality.”
Moreover, the men in blue will conclude their English tour with 2 one day international games. They will later tour the West Indies for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is before playing the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Both Kohli and Rohit’s form will be crucial for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
