Four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah made a shocking revelation about trafficking. He admitted that he was trafficked into the UK and forced into domestic servitude. Now, the metropolitan police department has launched an investigation to learn more about the claims.
He described how, after his father was killed in the civil war, he took on the name of another kid and was eventually taken to Britain illegally. He made this revelation in the BBC documentary The Real Mo Farah. Mo Farah’s real name is Hussein Abdi Kahin. He said, “The truth is I’m not who you think I am. Most people know me as Mo Farah, but it’s not my name or it’s not the reality.”
“The real story is I was born in Somaliland, north of Somalia, as Hussein Abdi Kahin. Despite what I’ve said in the past, my parents never lived in the UK. When I was four my dad was killed in the civil war. You know as a family we were torn apart. I was separated from my mother. And I was brought into the UK illegally under the name of another child called Mohamed Farah,” he continued.
Proud to have represented Britain says, Sir Mo Farah
Scotland Yard officers will examine the married couple. Farah claimed the couple made him do chores like cooking, cleaning, and babysitting for them. He asserted that if he told anyone the truth, they told him he would never see his family again. Alan Watkinson, Mo’s PE instructor at school, saved him and also assisted him in applying for British citizenship under a false name.
The metropolitan police said, “We are aware of reports in the media concerning Sir Mo Farah. No reports have been made to the MPS (Metropolitan Police Service) at this time. Specialist officers have opened an investigation and are currently assessing the available information.”
Sharing a picture of his family on Instagram, Farah expressed via caption that he is proud to have represented Britain. He also stated that the documentary was for his family.
