Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Tamil Nadu batter N Jagadeesan has been in outstanding form during the current Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-handed opener hit his fifth consecutive century in the top competition on Monday during his state’s match against Arunachal Pradesh (November 21). Before going on a rampage and smashing a stunning 141-ball 277, Jagadeesan had scores of 5 (6), 114* (112), 107 (113), 168 (140), and 128 (123).
With his most recent strike, Jagadeesan set a new record for the highest individual score in List A cricket and became the first batsman to hit five consecutive tonnes (the most ever in a single edition of the premier event).
Following Arunachal’s decision to bowl first, they were in for a tough time as Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan (154) put together a memorable 416-run opening stand before the former lost his partner. However, with his quick acceleration and the unbeaten cameos of Baba Aparajith and Inderjith, Tamil Nadu was able to reach a massive 506 for 2 in 50 overs, becoming the first team to do so in men’s List-A.
Additionally, Jagadeesan hit the quickest List-A double ton with a 277 that included 25 fours and 15 sixes at a strike rate of 196.45. Here are some of the records that were broken during the first half of the famous M.Chinnaswamy Stadium match between Tamil Nadu and Arunachal Pradesh in Bengaluru:
