There were speculations that this could be MS Dhoni’s last year in the CSK camp. However, shutting down the rumors, MS confirmed that he would continue to play for CSK next year. Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Friday said he will “definitely” play in the IPL next year as not doing so would be “unfair” to the city which treats him like its own.
During the final toss of the season for CSK, MS Dhoni said, “definitely, it’s a simple reason because it will be unfair not to say thank you to Chennai. Mumbai is one place where as a team and as an individual I’ve got a lot of love and affection. And it won’t be nice to do that to CSK fans.”
I’ll be working hard to come back strong next year
“Hopefully next year it’ll be an opportunity where the teams will be traveling so it’ll be like a thank you to different places and you’ll be playing games at different venues. Whether it’ll be my last year or not is a big question because you can’t really predict something that is two years down the line but definitely I’ll be working hard to come back strong next year,” he added.
The current season was not what the franchise had expected. Jadeja’s captaincy stint took a toll on both his individual as well as the performance of the team. Unfortunately, Jadeja suffered an injury and was ruled out of the remaining season. Deepak Chahar will be back to the side making it stronger. With 4 wins in 14 games, CSK will end this season at the 9th position on the points table just above Mumbai Indians.
