Liverpool could be without 8 first team regulars for Arsenal clash: Reports

Liverpool could be without as many as eight first-team players for their home game against Arsenal in the Premier League, according to the Liverpool Echo. The likes of Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, and James Milner are doubtful for the game. Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones, Roberto Firmino, and Harvey Elliott could also miss the fixture against Arsenal.

Liverpool team news

James Milner had picked up a hamstring injury in the 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United. While both Mane and Henderson had been sent back to Liverpool for further assessment after getting injured on international duty. Roberto Firmino and Harvey Elliott are almost certain to miss out against Arsenal.

Firmino suffered a major hamstring injury, while Elliot is still recovering from an ankle injury he picked up earlier in the season. Defender Andy Robertson is a major doubt for Liverpool after being forced out of the way in Scotland’s clash with Denmark on Monday night. Liverpool has also confirmed that Curtis Jones will remain on the sidelines for a few more weeks. Joe Gomez also looks set to miss out on the game against Arsenal. (firework.com) Naby Keita could also be missing.

In order to stay in the top 5, Liverpool will need a win against in-form Arsenal on Saturday. Currently, Arsenal sits just two points behind the Reds despite a disappointing start to the season. The Reds are now four points behind league leaders Chelsea, and one point behind City and West Ham. However, Liverpool has won every Premier League game at Anfield against the Gunners since January 2016. Jurgen Klopp’s men have won eight of the 13 matches across all competitions against them. A tough job ahead but the Reds will be hoping to continue the streak on Saturday.
