La Liga 2021-22: What to expect from the upcoming season?

Defending champions Atletico Madrid has a good chance of winning back-to-back La Liga titles for the first time in 70 years. Real Madrid said goodbye to manager Zinedine Zidane, Ramos, and Varane. But can the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti change the fortunes of Real Madrid? Barcelona looks in complete chaos at the moment. A lot will depend on how the youngsters play and Aguero’s form. The other top teams including Sevilla, Villarreal, Real Sociedad will also look to give a tough fight.

Let’s have a look at an in-depth analysis of the top three title contenders of La Liga 2021-2022

Atlético Madrid

The reigning LaLiga champions, Atletico Madrid have a good chance of winning back-to-back titles this year. The overall squad looks good, and the addition of new players can add more value to the team. Rodrigo de Paul is arguably the biggest name in LaLiga this summer. He showed what he can do in Copa America, and if Paul continues the same form then this is going to be a blistering season for Atletico Madrid.

Youngster Marcos Paul could also play an important role. And if João Félix comes good this season, with Squarez firing from other ends then Atletico has every right to consider them as favorites to win the league. With Barcelona and Real Madrid looks slightly weaker, Atletico has a good chance of winning back-to-back titles for the first time in 70 years.

Barcelona

The start of the post-Lionel Messi era for Barcelona. Currently, the whole squad looks in chaos with the departure of Messi, but they have the young firepower this season who can get them the La Liga title this year. The six-time Ballon d’Or dominated Spanish football over the past 15 years. And it’ll be very difficult to fill his shoes.

If Barcelona is aiming to finish at the top, then they need something extraordinary from their defense. Over the years, Gerard Pique has been the pillar of Barcelona, but age hasn’t been on his side. So, they need the young players to take responsibility. Oscar Mingueza, Eric Garcia, and Ronald Araujo will be the key for Barcelona this season. But Barcelona still needs a lot more from the trio of Busquets, Alba, and Piqué this season. The new signings will give them even more deadly finishers and increase their goalscoring ability.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid has lots of problems ahead of the start of La Liga. The departure of Sergio Ramos and Raphaël Varane leaves their defense thin. Master Zidane has also gone, but Carlo Ancelotti is back, and Real Madrid will be hoping for something big from him this season. The experienced players – Luka Modric, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Benzema needs to stand up this season. They need to take responsibility and have to bring their A-game.

David Alaba has joined the club and the return of Gareth Bale, Martin Ødegaard, Dani Ceballos, and Luka Jovic will add depth to the squad. Real Madrid has to improve their goalscoring ability. Aside Benzema, no other player has done the finishing job for them. A lot depends on Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard’s form. If both come good and scores goals then Real Madrid has a good chance this season to finish at the top.
