The second Twenty20 International between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed to Wednesday (July 28) after all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, as reported by ANI.
“Krunal Pandya has tested positive and the T20I on Tuesday has been postponed. The 2nd T20I will happen on Wednesday if all the others test negative. The players are currently isolating,” the source said.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Both the Indian and Sri Lankan teams have been put in isolation. Eight close contacts of the player, all from the Indian contingent, have been isolated. The players who are in close contact with Krunal Pandya will be closely monitored.
Just two days before, BCCI announced that Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as replacements for Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar for the England tour. The duo was supposed to travel to England from Sri Lanka after the 2nd T20I. Now, it remains to be seen what happens to their travel plans, since all the players are put under isolation.
Previously, The ODI series between the two sides was also postponed. Srilanka’s batting coach Grant Flower and the data analyst G T Niroshan had tested positive for COVID-19 upon their return from England tour.
