According to a report in the Times of India, the BCCI has prepared a blueprint for the IPL 2022, which includes two new teams, player retention, mega auction, increment in salary purse, and the new media rights tender too.

The BCCI will invite tenders for two New IPL franchises in mid-August. And the bidding process will start in mid-October. The Kolkata-based RP-Sanjiv Goenka, the Adani group from Ahmedabad, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd from Hyderabad, and the Torrent Group that operates from Gujarat, are some of the business groups that have shown interest in buying the teams.

The report also mentioned the salary purse for the teams will be increased to INR 90 crore. And in the next three years, the amount will rise to 100 crores ahead of the 2024 season. Teams can spend a minimum of 75% from this salary purse. For the player retention, each team can retain four players, with the following conditions – either retain three Indians and one overseas player or two Indians and two overseas players.

IPL 2022: The mega auction to take place at the end of 2021

“Some players may like the idea of not wanting to be retained and will want to head into the auction. That’s because there is an increase in the salary purse and two new teams are being added. So, there’ll be a rush to grab talent. Expect some leading Indian Cricketers to forward their names for the auctions.” said those tracking the developments to TOI.
