The IPL 2022 mega auction is likely to be held on February 12, 13 in Bangalore. While official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaited, Cricbuzz reported on Thursday that the board has apprised all franchises about the details of the event.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the original eight franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of four players. The Ahmedabad and Lucknow-based franchises are also allowed to select three players out of the auction pool after retention announcements. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
The BCCI officials also stated that the schedule is final despite a clash with an international game. The second One-Day International between India and West Indies is scheduled for February 12 in Kolkata. For both the events, the official broadcaster is Star Sports and it was also reported that Star Sports have also been informed about the developments. With two new teams being added, the IPL 2022 will be a 10 teams contest this year.
“It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead,” a franchise official told Cricbuzz.
