IPL 2022 mega auction: Players’ list, highest reserve price, country-wise breakdown

IPL 2022 player auction will take place on the 12th and 13th of February in Bangalore. A total of 590 cricketers are ready to go under the hammer during the two-day mega auction. 228 capped players, 355 uncapped players, and 7 players from Associate Nations. They are among the 590 players who have enlisted for the auction. The maximum reserve price is INR 2 crore. Also, a total of 48 participants have opted to be part of it. The reserve price for 20 players is INR 1.5 crore. The bids for 34 players will begin at INR 1 crore.

The IPL is in its 15th season. The organization intends to bring in famous stars from the cricketing world to help light up the important occasion. We also have to remember that the IPL will expand to ten teams in 2022 with two additional teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad joining the competition. Before the mega IPL 2022 player auction, the eight prevailing teams were asked to retain a maximum of four players. While some teams strove to keep their core, others didn’t play all of their cards, opting for a makeover.

The two new teams allocated three players each from the list of non-retained players. The franchises will have a lot to reckon about as the remaining names will be auctioned off. In terms of the breakdown, there will be a total of 370 Indian players and 220 international players up for grabs in what is sure to be an amusing bidding event. The auction puddle will include players from as many as 14 countries. It will be captivating to see what the franchise owners have in store for them.

An aggressive crusade to receive the services of some of the finest Indian cricketing skills is on the cards when the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Ishan Kishan, Suresh Raina, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, etc go under the hammer. The IPL has constantly been a competition where ability and opportunity coexist. India’s U19 stars, such as Yash Dhull, Vicky Ostwal, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar will likewise try to grab a contract. Some of the greatly talked-about Indian cricketers, such as Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Shahrukh Khan, Avesh Khan, and others, will try to find new franchises. 

The list acknowledges that there are 21 open player berths in Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians, as well as 7 open international player slots. 22 vacant player berths and 7 open international player slots are available in the Lucknow SuperGiants, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Team Ahmedabad. The Punjab Kings have 23 open player spots and 8 open player slots for international players. For these ten teams, the salary cap for the 2022 player auction is between 48 and 72 crores.
