The Tata IPL 2022 is all set to begin from 26th March 2022. With nearly 20 days to go for the tournament, the schedule for the same is out. Fans in Maharashtra, especially the ones in Mumbai and Pune are thrilled to be able to visit the stadium for this year’s IPL.
When and where will the matches take place ?
Over 65 days, 70 league games and four playoff games will be played, including 12 doubleheaders. Each side will play four matches at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, as well as three matches at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) in Mumbai and MCA International Stadium in Pune. The playoff venues will be determined later. The tournament will commence on 26th March; with the defending champions Chennai Super King taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. Delhi Capitals, will face five-time winners Mumbai Indians at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on the second day of the season. Moreover, Punjab Kings and Royal and Challengers Bangalore will face off at the DY Patil Stadium in the second match of the day on Sunday, March 27.
What are the groups?
However, as the number of teams has increased from 8 to 10, BCCI will follow the group system to conduct the tournament with 5 teams each in the 2 groups. Each team will play 2 games each against the other 4 teams in their group, followed by 2 games with one team in the opposite group and one game each with the leftover teams. This will constitute up to 14 games each.
- Group 1: MI, KKR, RR, DC, LSG
- Group 2: CSK, RCB, SRH, PBKS, GT
What is the qualification scenario?
Just like always, the top 4 teams in the table will qualify for the playoffs.
Is the crowd allowed?
Currently, only 25% of the crowd has permission to visit the stadium till April 15.
