Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma scripted a unique IPL record on Thursday against KKR. He became the first batter in the history of the league to complete 1000 runs against a single opposition. Rohit achieved this feat during Match 34 of IPL 2021 against his favorite opposition, Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi.
Rohit Sharma is currently the third-highest run-scorer in IPL 2021 after Virat Kohli and Shikar Dhawan. Overall, he is MI’s leading run-scorer in the tournament. He missed Mumbai Indians’ first game against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday due to a knee injury but was back in the 2nd game against KKR on Thursday. Coming back after an excellent Test series against England, Rohit looked in good touch vs KKR. He started with a boundary on the first delivery of the match and played some glorious shots before getting out to Sunil Narine on 33.
Rohit loves playing against KKR. He has scored 1012 runs at an average of 48.18 against KKR including six fifties and one hundred. Only David Warner, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan are close to equal Rohit Sharma’s feat of scoring 1000 runs against a single franchise in the IPL. David Warner has amassed 943 runs against Punjab Kings and 915 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. While Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli has scored 909 runs against Delhi Capitals.
