BCCI, on Wednesday evening, announced the Indian squad for India’s tour of Ireland with Hardik Pandya as the captain. Team India will be touring Ireland for a two-match T20I series at the end of the month. The IPL-winning skipper is currently the vice-captain of Team India for the SA series. Pandya has been given the responsibility of leading the national team as Rishabh Pant will soon be joining the other squad for the Test match in England.
Rahul Tripathi gets the maiden India call
Apart from Hardik’s captaincy, Rahul Tripathi gets his maiden call for team India. SRH’s middle-order batsman had an impressive season.
“I am very happy that the selectors and everybody believed in me and whatever hard work I have put in, I have got the rewards. And hopefully, if I get an opportunity to play, I will try and give my best,” Tripathi told PTI.
In 14 games played, with 3 half-centuries, Tripathi scored 413 runs at an average of 34.4. Surya Kumar Yadav who was forced to leave IPL midway due to injury has found his way back to the squad along with Sanju Samson. Dinesh Karthik will also go to Ireland. On the other hand, Umran Malik has retained his position in the squad.
Here’s the full squad for India’s tour of Ireland:
- Batsmen: Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik.
