The caravan of IPL 2021 finally came to its end and Chennai Super Kings emerged as the champions in the summit clash of the 14th edition of the IPL. The daddies army defeated Eoin Morgan’s Men in Purple and Gold by 27 runs on Friday (October 15) in Dubai. Faf du Plessis, who scored a superb 86 was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant knock. With this, CSK won the IPL trophy for the fourth time, having previously won the tournament in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
Ruturaj Gaikwad became the youngest player to win the Orange Cap with 635 runs in this season. He also became the second player to win the Orange Cap as well part of the winning team in the final in IPL after Robin Uthappa for KKR in 2014. Harshal Patel (32 wickets) was awarded the Purple Cap of the tournament. He also won the Most Valuable Player of the Season award (264.5 points). Venkatesh Iyer, arguably the find of the season won the Power Player of the Season award. Shimron Hetmyer (242 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 168.05) was named Super Striker of the Season.
