Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, announced his comeback on Sunday.

“These past two months, I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now”, Brady wrote in a message posted on his social media accounts on Sunday.

“I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. “I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa,” Brady said, adding he has “unfinished business”.

After leading his club to the playoffs, where they were crushed by the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams; Brady announced his retirement from the NFL last month.

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” Brady had said in his retirement statement. “I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

He is back. Tom Brady is back.

Shortly after Brady made his announcement the Buccaneers reacted with their message on Twitter: “He’s baaackkkk,” the team said with a video of the quarterback taking the field. The NFL echoed that sentiment, tweeting a photo of a smiling Brady with the caption “He’s back.”

Brady may have certainly been energized to return after watching Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick in Manchester United’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday. After the game, Brady strolled onto the pitch to greet Ronaldo, 37, and declared openly his comeback to the gridiron the next day.

Tom Brady, 44, has played 20 seasons with the New England Patriots; gaining a victory at six Super Bowls along the way; before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and supervising the team to a title in his first season. However, Brady’s retirement on February 1 was not unexpected. But it came after one of his best seasons in a long career.
