After a gap of one year, Football’s prestigious award, Ballon d’Or is back. Football magazine announced on Wednesday that Ballon d’Or will be awarded on November 29 in Paris, France. The ceremony, presented in particular by Didier Drogba, will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet on the mentioned date.
The list of nominees for the different prizes will be announced on October 8 at 5.30 p.m. Lionel Messi, a six-time winner, and Megan Rapinoe won the award in 2019. The following year(2020), the event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lionel Messi is considered to be one of the greatest players to have played the game. He has scored 38 goals,14 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona this past season. The top goalscorer in La Liga, Messi was announced as the winner of the Pichichi trophy for a record eighth time in his career in the season 2020-21. It was also a record fifth consecutive win in La Liga.
The 34-year-old recently won his first international trophy with Argentina at the Copa America 2021. He was the best player at Copa America, winning both the Golden Ball and the Best Player award. Messi scored four goals and provided five assists in seven appearances. Messi has won the Ballon d’Or in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2019. He finished second in the Ballon d’Or race on five occasions and also finished third once. Currently, Messi is the firm favorite to win the award for the 7th time in his career.
