Cristiano Ronaldo to join Lionel Messi at PSG?

Cristiano Ronaldo

On March 6, Cristiano Ronaldo did not play in Manchester United’s Premier League match against arch-rivals Manchester City. The Red Devils were thrashed 4-1 by the City despite the absence of the 37-year-old Portugal skipper. According to reports, the star Manchester United striker is unwilling to stay with the club if they do not qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four this season.

There have been stories that Ronaldo could join his arch-rival Lionel Messi at PSG as a substitute for France attacker Kylian Mbappe. For the uninitiated, the Parisians are very specific to lose star forward Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid this summer. If ManUtd fails to qualify for the Champions League, Ronaldo wants to join Messi at PSG, as per Football Transfers. Before hanging up his boots, the Portuguese forward wants to win a couple of more major titles.

Speculations over Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United

Many saw his absence from the Premier League match against Manchester City over the weekend as an early endeavor to gain transparency on his future plans beyond this season. Cristiano Ronaldo traveled to Portugal because of a hip issue. However, some speculate that Ronaldo’s journey was under the influence of future possibilities beyond this season. If the 37-year-old joins PSG, it will be a watershed moment in football history; as the two all-time greats would play together for the first time.

Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United attacker, may as now be an apparent replacement for Kylian Mbappe. Both Ronaldo and Rashford are now getting less playing time for Manchester United; so PSG can take benefit of this recourse to confirm one of them in favor of Mbappe. Rashford was unhappy at ManUtd due to a lack of playing time under manager Ralf Rangnick. PSG is seen as a lucrative goal for the young forward since PSG manager Maurcio Pochettino is a fan of the Englishman.
