Chasing a target of 311 against Warwickshire, he hit 22 runs with three fours, a six, and two doubles in the 45th over of the chase off Liam Norwell. The India Test No. 3, who is well-known for his calm demeanor and his capacity to wear down opposition bowlers session after session with his sturdy defense, stood out for his unconventional shot selection in that over. Unfortunately, the captain’s knock wasn’t enough to take the team to the win. The opposition managed to clinch victory with merely 4 runs. Oliver Hannon-Dalby dismissed Pujara in the penultimate over. When 12 were needed to win for Warwickshire, George Garrett bowled a tight last over, allowing just seven runs while allowing no boundaries.
Due to a 114-run innings by Robert Yates, Warwickshire, who were batting first, had earlier amassed 310/6 in 50 overs. Even Alistair Orr contributed 81 runs to Sussex alongside Pujara. Sussex is currently ranked sixth in Group A with 4 points after 4 games. Cheteshwar Pujara has had a great summer for Sussex, scoring three double hundreds and five hundred in the County Championship.
