Chess World Cup: Nihal Sarin knocked out, R Praggnanandhaa in a tie-break, Harikrishna wins

Michal Krasenkow defeated Young Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaain in the second game of the two-game mini-match in the third round of the FIDE Chess World Cup on Monday.

Krasenkow used his experience, made some classical moves in the game, to close out a 44-move win. Whereas, the youngster made some blunders which costed him the game. The third game will be played on Tuesday to earn a spot in the fourth round. (https://www.stocktargetadvisor.com/)

Recently, in April 2021, Praggnanandhaa won the Polgar Challenge. He also won the World Youth Championships in the Under 18 section. Praggnanandhaa clinched the World Youth Chess Championships Under-8 title in 2013, which earned him the title of FIDE Master at the age of 7.

On the other hand, The second-highest ranked Indian at 21 after Viswanathan Anand, P Harikrishna closed out on a draw against Constantin Lupulescu of Romania to advance to round four with a 1.5-0.5 margin. He made a 46-move draw in the second game.

In February 2013, Harikrishna’s FIDE rating passed 2700 for the first time. He broke into the top ten players in the world in November 2016 with a FIDE rating of 2768.

In another match, Nihal Sarin was knocked out of the competition as he lost 0.5-1.5 to Dmitry Andreikin of Russia. Nihal is a very talented player who has made his mark in world chess at a very young age. Nihal is the 4th youngest player in history to cross the 2600 rating mark. In 2020, he became an Olympic champion as part of the Indian team & won the U-18 World Youth Championship held in a rapid format.

In an all-Indian clash, B Adhiban won the second game in 66 moves against Vidit Santhosh Gujrathi to level the match 1-1.
