Scott Hall, a WWE legend who had recently suffered three heart attacks and was on life support, died on March 14, 2022. Hall, a two-time world champion, had recently injured his hip, and his health had worsened due to other issues. The iconic wrestler’s death was revealed by WWE earlier today.
Scott rose to prominence in WWE as ‘Razor Ramon’ in the mid-nineties, before jumping ship to WCW in one of the decade’s most memorable moments. Forming the nWo with Kevin Nash and later Hulk Hogan, he became one of the most recognizable names of the era. Here are the best moments from the career of Scott Hall.
Best moments from the career of Scott Hall.
- 1-2-3: The WWF started their newest initiative, “Monday Night Raw,” in January 1993, and Hall quickly became a fan favourite. Hall faced Sean Waltman, a young jobber who had sought to establish a name for himself each week, on the May 17 programme. On this occasion, fans expected Ramon to squash the much smaller opponent; but the fans were surprised by Waltman’s surprise pinfall victory. This pin earned the Kid the moniker ‘The 1-2-3 Kid,’ and it demonstrated that, in a profession rife with egos, Hall was never reluctant to place other talents ahead of himself. Shawn Michaels’ legendary battle with Marty Jannetty overshadowed the rest of the night.
- Ladder Match: Following his triumph in the IC title match, Hall began a squabble with Shawn Michaels, who had been stripped of the title, with HBK proclaiming himself the real champion. The two had one of wrestling’s most prominent matches; which was the first WWE clash to receive 5 stars from Dave Meltzer, resolving the score in the first ladder match in WrestleMania history. In the match that PWI named Match of the Year 1994, it was Hall who came out on top. Although most fans recall Michaels gently splashing Hall from the top of the ladder; the match was won by Hall, who established his legend on the largest platform of them all.
First man to win the Intercontinental Championship thrice
- Triple champ: Hall is unquestionably at the obvious top of the list of WWE Superstars who have never held a world title. His legacy with the Intercontinental Title, which was formerly considered one of WWE’s highest honours, cannot be overlooked. Razor Ramon would have two more supremacy with the legendary title after his glorious victory over Michaels at WrestleMania X. Crushing Diesel at SummerSlam 1994 and then Jeff Jarrett at a Raw home show in May 1995; he became the first man to win the Intercontinental Championship three times. In WCW, he won the United States Championship twice.
- Stunning streak: When Goldberg met Nash at Starrcade in 1998, he was sprinting high as the head of nWo offshoot. The Wolfpac and his unbeaten streak had reached 173. Hall hadn’t been seen on WCW TV in months. However, he reappeared in the last moments of the battle, dressed as a security officer. It was to amaze Goldberg with a taser and give his old friend the first victory over WCW’s monster machine. The sequel and the ‘finger poke of doom’ marked the verdict of the new saga; but Hall was once again at the lead of an industry-changing shift.
Scott Hall will always be in every WWE fans’ heart. May his soul rest his peace.
