The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach for the men’s cricket team, replacing Rahul Dravid. Dravid recently stepped down after guiding India to the 2024 T20 World Cup. Gambhir’s tenure will extend until the ODI World Cup in 2027.
Welcoming a new era
“It is with immense pleasure that I welcome Mr Gautam Gambhir as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote on X.
A modern-day cricket visionary
“Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian cricket forward,” Shah added.
Gambhir’s extensive experience and clear vision for Team India make him well-suited for this prestigious and challenging role. The BCCI fully supports him as he embarks on this new journey, aiming to elevate Indian cricket to new heights.
