BCCI central contracts: Ravindra Jadeja promoted, KL Rahul demoted

In the most current central contract list from BCCI, Ravindra Jadeja has been upgraded to Grade A+. Since making his long-awaited comeback from injury with outstanding performances during India’s home series against Australia, Jadeja has been on a tear. As a result, he has earned a top-tier contract (with a salary of INR 70 million/7 crore), joining captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah.

KL Rahul, who lost his position as vice-captain for the white-ball team and was benched for the last two Tests against Australia, has been downgraded to Grade B. There are six players in Grade B and 11 in Grade C, whilst as many as five players have been included in Grade A (INR 50 million/5 crore).

One of the most well-known names in Grade C is Shikhar Dhawan, who has been removed from the ODI lineup. As Rohit’s opening partner in the 50-over system, he has been replaced by Shubman Gill, whereas he was already dropped from the T20I lineup in late 2021. Moreover, the name of prominent pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was absent from the entire list. The IPL 2023 season, which begins on March 31 in Ahmedabad, is currently in full swing with all the top Indian cricketers preparing.
