The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has criticized the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for statements he made following the release of the ACC Calendar 2023-24 and the pathway system on Thursday. PCB’s interim chairman Najam Sethi had blasted Jay Shah for ‘unilaterally’ introducing the structure and calendar. The Asian cricketing organization has now responded, claiming that the calendar was shared with all members, including the Pakistan board, in December 2022, but no response was received. However, a few other members did offer their thoughts on the schedule and structure.
“Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present the structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated,” Sethi had remarked
“It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President unilaterally taking the decision on finalizing the calendar and releasing the same,” said the ACC in response. The ACC wishes to emphasize that it followed a well-established and proper procedure. The calendar was agreed upon by the Development and Finance and Marketing Committees during a meeting on December 13th, 2022.
The calendar was subsequently distributed individually to all participating members, including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), by email on December 22nd, 2022. While replies were received from certain Member Boards, PCB received no comments or suggested changes.
In view of the above, Mr. Sethi’s comments on a social media platform are baseless and are vehemently denied by the ACC.”
