ATP Tour Finals Groups announced: All that you need to know

The group stage draw is out for the 2021 ATP Finals as eight top stars in men’s singles tennis will fight for the year-end trophy. The tournament will take place from November 14 to 21 at the Pala Alpitou.

World No. 1 Djokovic will begin his Nitto ATP Finals on Monday against eighth seed Casper Ruud. Djokovic will hope to win a record-equalling sixth ATP Tour Finals title in Turin. To date, Roger Federer has won the title on six occasions (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011). While the Serbian legend has won it five times (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). Daniil Medvedev (2020) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (2019) have won the title on one occasion each among the Top 8 participants.

With round-robin action set to get underway on Monday, here’s a look at the two groups.

Novak Djokovic is drawn with Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Casper Ruud in the green group. The ‘Red Group’ is led by defending champion from Russia Daniil Medvedev. The group also has Germany’s Alexander Zverev, Italian Matteo Berrettini, and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz.

Green Group: Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud.

Red Group: Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Matteo Berrettini, Hubert Hurkacz.

“Our group, I think, from what I see, is maybe the tougher group. Simply because on an indoor hard court, the players in the group are extremely difficult. Hubi [Hurkacz] is playing extremely well, Matteo can play well on this surface and Daniil can play well having won this title last year.” said Zverev
