Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th game in the white jersey for Team India. A journey that started a decade ago in Jamaica has reached greater heights with certain bumps on its way. 1. 12th Indian to play 100 Test matches

Virat Kohli will become only the 12th Indian player to represent the nation in the longest format of the game on 100 occasions. Legendary players like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid are a few others on the list. 

2. Virat needs 38 runs to complete 8000 Test runs

Virat Kohli needs 38 runs to reach 8000 runs in Test cricket, If Kohli manages to score the required runs, he will become only the sixth Indian to achieve the feat. After Sachin Tendulkar (154 innings), Rahul Dravid (158 innings), Virender Sehwag (160 innings), and Sunil Gavaskar (166 innings), he will be the fifth fastest Indian batter to reach this milestone.

3. Kohli is just a century away from equalling Ponting’s record

If the much-awaited 71st century comes in the first Test against Sri Lanka, Kohli will equal Ponting’s record of 71 international centuries. Virat Kohli is currently at the third spot, behind Tendulkar and Ponting, on the list of most international centuries

4. A ton to equal Hashim Amla and Michael Clarke’s Test centuries tally

In Test cricket, Virat Kohli has scored 27 centuries. A century in this Test will push his total to 28, tying him with Hashim Amla and Michael Clarke. Kohli will equal Sir Don Bradman’s tally of 29 centuries if he scores a century in both innings.

5. Most runs scored against Sri Lanka in Test matches played in India

Kohli needs 237 runs to overtake Rahul Dravid’s (846) record of most runs scored against Sri Lanka in Test matches played in India. 

Moreover, BCCI has now allowed 50% of the crowd to witness this historic game for Kohli. Earlier, the game was to be played behind closed doors.
