Adam, from Accrington, has played two games for Baxenden Firsts of the Ribblesdale League. He becomes the youngest player ever to play for a Lancashire league cricket team. He also plays for the Lancashire county Under-12s team.
He made his debut against Read last month. He scored three runs off 34 balls facing adult bowlers against the table-toppers of the Ribblesdale League. Adam has also played for under-15 sides when he was just nine. His highest score is 95 when he was playing for the under-14s. Adam is a right-handed batsman and also a part-time leg-spinner.
Speaking to the Lancashire website, Adam’s father Arshad Hussain, who has been his coach since childhood said, “Cricket was not always his first sport. When he was younger he actually loved to play football instead and would train with the Abu Hanifah Foundation in Blackburn. Then he after the age of eight it was all cricket.”
“He seems to have a knack for it and it comes naturally for him. He was playing up to five times a week sometimes, he loved it so much. He has got a real passion for the sport now. He is really keen and is training hard. To play for the first team is amazing. We are really proud of him and his attitude,” he added
Arshad also mentioned that, they’ve to travel a lot to reach the club for the training. He (Adam) is working his way through the ranks but he is playing well beyond his years at the moment and with much older people.
