Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti created history when she made the first-ever TikTok video from the International Space Station (ISS). Cristoforetti, from the European Space Agency (ESA), is currently on the Crew-4 mission by SpaceX.
Cristoforetti’s 88 seconds video shows glimpses of the space station where she will be spending the next six months. In the video, she can be seen introducing the two zero-g indicators of the Crew-4 mission, a plush turtle named Zippy and a stuffed monkey called Etta. Etta is short for “scimietta,” an Italian phrase meaning ‘small monkey’, according to an ESA report.

The initial few days of SpaceX’s Crew-4 mission were incredibly frantic. Cristoforetti explained that it was because the members needed to gather as much knowledge as possible from the Crew-3 crew as fast as possible. While speaking to her audience in the video, she asked, ”What questions do you have about life on the space station?” Before ending the video, she said ”Follow me to boldly go where no Tiktoker has gone before.” Samantha’s video on Twitter has thousands of likes and retweets.
