$125K space balloon ride with Richard Branson set for 2025 launch- All about it

Richard Branson to Co-Pilot Groundbreaking Space Balloon Voyage in 2025

In an exciting development for space tourism, Sir Richard Branson is preparing to embark on a groundbreaking journey as co-pilot of the world’s first commercial stratospheric balloon flight. Slated for 2025, this venture marks another milestone for the billionaire, who first reached space in 2021 aboard a Virgin Galactic spacecraft.

Branson will be seated in a pressurized capsule, which will be gently lifted 20 miles into the sky by a massive space balloon. This innovative flight is orchestrated by Space Perspective, and Branson will be joined by company co-founders Jane Poynter and Taber MacCallum as fellow pilots.

Reflecting on his previous record-breaking balloon adventures across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Branson expressed his enthusiasm: “Some of the most magnificent experiences of my life have happened on ballooning expeditions, and I’m excited to support Space Perspective in its journey.”

What is the space balloon?

The space balloon, towering nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower, will ascend at a leisurely pace of approximately 12 miles per hour. Upon reaching an altitude of 20 miles, it will float above the atmosphere, offering unparalleled views.

An uncrewed test flight has already been successfully conducted, mirroring the anticipated trajectory and altitude. With Branson as an investor, Space Perspective is set to accelerate its development and test flight program.

This luxurious six-hour journey, priced at $125,000 per seat, promises an unforgettable experience. Passengers will enjoy two hours in the stratosphere, witnessing “the total blackness of space, and the thin blue line of our atmosphere,” complemented by gourmet food, drinks, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Space Perspective has reported over 1,800 reservations for this unique adventure, indicating a booming interest in space tourism. As the world eagerly awaits this pioneering flight, Branson’s involvement adds a layer of excitement and credibility to the ambitious project.
