The President of the United States has named a week of the year as National Small Business Week, as has been customary for the previous 60 years. The NSBW this year is from April 30 to May 6.
A two-day in-person event with an awards ceremony for honorees and visitors will formally kick off the 2023 National Small Business Week celebrations for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), coupled with a virtual summit for online attendees. On Sunday, April 30, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman addressed attendees at the award ceremony, educational sessions, and networking events before kicking off the nationwide event. After the D.C. event, National Small company Week continues as Administrator Guzman travels to St. Louis, Minneapolis, Phoenix, and Albuquerque for further workshops, training sessions, small company visits, and regional award presentations.
In his proclamation designating April 30 to May 6, 2023, as National Small Business Week, President Biden writes: “This week, we celebrate the backbone of our economy and the glue of our communities: our small businesses, which help make our Nation strong.”
“Small companies are the lifeblood of the American economy and the means by which the American Dream is fulfilled for millions of business owners.” According to SBA Administrator Isabella Guzman, National Small Business Week is an opportunity to loudly and proudly recognize their accomplishments and the vital contributions they provide to communities all over the nation. The Biden-Harris administration is dedicated to putting money into America, and at the SBA, that process begins with giving our small business owners and entrepreneurs vital resources. Nearly 12 million Americans have submitted applications to launch new businesses since 2021, with women and people of color submitting the most applications. The SBA is dedicated to establishing an environment of equality that provides these inventors and job creators with the resources and opportunities they require to succeed.
The National Small Business Week virtual summit this year will provide free webinars for education, free business counsel, and a chance to network with other business owners.
It is necessary to register. Anyone interested in attending the conference can sign up here.
