India: 105 year-old super grandma sprints to new 100m record

At the National Open Masters Athletics Championship in Vadodara, India, a 105-year-old granny made a new record in the 100m event, finishing in 45.4 seconds. Rambai astounded people as she ran over the lane and won gold medals in two races- 100m and 200m at the Athletics Federation of India.

The 105-year-old granny smashed 101-year-old Man Kaur’s record set after winning the 100m gold at the World Masters. Kaur finished the 100m dash in 74 seconds. Rambai broke the previous record and was the only person participating in the National Open Masters Athletics category above 85. Everyone has praised the super granny’s incredible feat. Moreover, she has now established herself as a global role model for millions of elderly people.

Super Grandma wins 100m sprint

Rambai’s regular diet includes 1 liter of milk, churma, bajra roti, 250 grams of ghee, and 500 grams of dahi (curd). In November of 2021, Rambai participated in the first race in Varanasi. She also participated in competitions in Kerala, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Moreover, granny has a dozen medals to her name. Rambai’s granddaughter Sharmila, mentioned that her grandmother used to run in the Kadma fields before competing.

“It’s a great feeling and I want to race again,” said 105-year-old granny. Her next goal is to participate in an international competition. She intends to apply for a passport in the near future. Rambai’s achievement made her a fan favorite and soon she was seen posing for selfies and photos with the other participants.
