300,000 'Vanilla Frappuccino' drinks recalled by Starbucks

Based on a letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on January 28, Starbucks voluntarily recalled 300,000 vanilla Frappuccino drinks. Following that, PepsiCo recalled over 25,000 cold coffee drink bottles in accordance with the FDA’s request.

The recall issued in this situation is known as a “Class 2 Recall,” which means that if the product is kept on the market, it may cause users to experience temporary or permanent health problems.

The FDA issued the warning after discovering glass fragments in the bottles; the incident could have resulted in serious damage. The bottles were then recalled, with the goal of protecting customers from any potential damage.

What is the significance of PepsiCo’s involvement?

The North American Coffee Partnership (NACP) was founded about 20 years ago, in 1994. The NACP merged the coffee behemoth Starbucks and the beverage behemoth PepsiCo. This collaboration allowed Starbucks to supply its coffee expertise while PepsiCo handled distribution.

The FDA’s recent discoveries, however, have delayed the outflow of their packed bottles of Starbucks coffee, with further inspections being conducted to look into the situation.

According to sources, the batch with the expiration dates of March 8th, May 29th, June 4th, and June 10th has been impacted. According to another report, the distribution occurred in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Joint Venture alone controls 97% of the RTD coffee industry

According to an official statement issued by the NACP, PepsiCo stated that the Frappuccino products have been removed from the market and are no longer available at Starbucks retail locations.

A similar incident occurred in September 2022, when foreign material containing metal particles tainted their Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot beverage.

PepsiCo has set up a landline hotline (1-800-211-8307) for customers to call with questions or concerns. The brand also emphasizes its aim to consumers to “deliver a quality experience,” which remains its “top priority” while they continue to operate cautiously.
