10 most livable cities in the World

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Global Liveability Index 2022 recently revealed its annual list of the world’s most livable cities. The findings for 2022 indicate an upward trend in all places, although the global standard of living remains lesser than it was prior to the pandemic. Each of the 173 listed cities was evaluated using a variety of criteria and ranked according to an average score. The latest reports seem to point to the restoration of pre-pandemic patterns. However, numerous places have dropped in the ranks as an outcome of various factors, most significantly Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The concept of liveability is simple. It assesses which locations around the world provide the best or the worst living conditions,” the Economist report stated.

“Every city is assigned a rating for relative comfort for over 30 qualitative and quantitative factors across five broad categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.”

Vienna, Austria is rated highest. Perfect ratings were given to the city for its infrastructure, healthcare, and education systems. Vienna scored 96.3 out of 100 in the areas of culture and environment. Melbourne and Osaka are tied up, with Melbourne scoring higher in the competitive culture and environment category while Osaka scoring significantly better in the healthcare category.
