The Opening Night Live (ONL) pre-show, hosted by American video game journalist and comedian Kyle Bosman, kicked off Gamescom 2023. Unlike the main event, the goal of the pre-show, which was pre-recorded, was to provide spectators the opportunity to watch a couple of extra game trailers and interviews that were not included in the main event.
Who is Kyle Bosman?
Kyle has long been a member of the Game Awards team, as well as the co-host of Gamescom. He has his own YouTube channel and occasionally streams vintage games on Twitch.
Kyle joined Gametrailers in 2011 and was a member of the well-known video game critic collective Easy Allies until 2020. He has recently launched his own YouTube show, Delayed Input, in which he reviews video games.
Kyle Bosman may be familiar to video game enthusiasts from his four years at Easy Allies, which he joined with the rest of the Gametrailers team in 2016 after the original website closed its doors. He has now been a YouTube group mainstay, appearing in a variety of podcasts and shows.
He was the original host of the Easy Allies podcast and a Twitch broadcaster noted for his unique ideas, such as developing his own Game Boy games in the Kyle Makes a Game Boy Game series. He also appeared in and voiced one of the major characters in the animated series Box Peeks.
Kyle Bosman has been a member of the Gamescom pre-show for a few years and is recognized for his incisive insights on the video gaming business, for both AAA and indie titles, with the first few game trailers featured on The Game Awards channel.
Additionally, Kyle Bosman spoke with the main event’s presenter and host, Geoff Keighley, to provide a bit of a prologue to Opening Night Live by telling viewers what to expect from the upcoming show. Keighley praised Bosman and his preshow, saying:
“Thanks, Kyle, your show is a big deal too. We love having you host the pre-show and I am excited to be on stage”.
