Baldur’s Gate 3 is without a doubt Larian Studios‘ most ambitious role-playing game yet. The latest entry in the Baldur’s Gate franchise, like any other current action role-playing experience, is packed with a wealth of unique artifacts that offer access to some of the most powerful talents and abilities for your character.
One example is the Dark Amethyst, which also serves as a vital item in one of the game’s primary story questlines. Deep beneath, Dark Amethyst can be discovered. While you will eventually come across the relic while progressing through the main story, you can get it earlier by going to the Blighted Village.
Here’s a detailed guide to obtaining the Dark Amethyst and using it as a critical quest item in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to get the Dark Amethyst in Baldur’s Gate 3
To obtain the Dark Amethyst, travel to the Blighted Village in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
When you arrive in the Blighted Village, look for an open well near the teleportation point. To access the Whispering Depth, you must jump down the open well.
The Dark Amethyst artifact may be found within the “Phase Spider Matriarch’s” nest. The Whispering Depth is a labyrinth of interconnecting caves where Phase Spider foes can be found. You can obtain the Dark Amethyst after fighting the Phase Spider Matriarch.
You can also employ stealth to retrieve the Dark Amethyst from beneath the Spider’s nest without engaging in combat. However, if you have the correct gear and weapons, we recommend battling the monster, as this will provide you with a lot of experience and loot for your group. Furthermore, the Spider Matriarch is not a particularly difficult boss battle.
What’s the use of Dark Amethyst in the game play?
The Dark Amethyst is effectively the key to the Necromancy of Thay book of Necromancy, which is a vital item for the major story mission, Search the Cellar. The book may be located beneath the Apothecary in the Blighted Village, behind the same teleportation point from whence you descended into the Whispering Depth.
You can read Thay’s Necromancy by using the Dark Amethyst on the book’s cover. It should be noted, however, that in order to complete the book, you must pass three Wisdom roll tests. Each of these rolls becomes harder, with the final roll check being a 20.
