An unopened copy of Nintendo‘s Super Mario 64 has sold at auction for $1.56 million. One of the original versions of Super Mario 64 was released in the year 1996, and the game is still in use today. According to Heritage Auctions in Dallas, the game broke the previous record price for a single video game.
This edition of the N64 classic shows no signs of being a special or unique print. Instead, it has a 9.8 out of 10 Wata Games rating. Thus, making it the most immaculate copy of the 25-year-old game you’ll ever find. A representative did not respond when asked who purchased the game.
Japan published Super Mario for the first time on June 23, 1996. The game was first published in North America on September 29, 1996, and then in Europe on March 1, 1997. It garnered positive reviews from critics and is the best-selling Nintendo 64 game.
