Gamers rejoice! Battlegrounds Mobile returns

Popular mobile game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is set to return to the Indian market on a three-month-long trial. However, some restrictions remain. “We will keep a close watch on other issues of user harm, addiction, etc in the next 3 months before a final decision is taken,” stated Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar is the Deputy IT Minister for the Indian government. Krafton is a South Korean developer famous for Battle Royale. It also revealed the news of securing approval from the authorities to resume the game. New Delhi banned BGMI in July 2022 citing security concerns.

A major comeback after the PUBG ban

Krafton launched Battlegrounds Mobile after the Indian government banned PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). China’s Tencent held publishing rights for PUBG. The game was one of the biggest in the country with over 50 million users being active every month. “Krafton, Inc. is a responsible South Korean organization that abides by the law and has put in place several measures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. We also work tirelessly to ensure that India takes the lead in this domain by embracing innovative practices in collaboration with the gaming ecosystem to support, sustain and promote its growth,” stated Vibhor Kukreti. Kukreti is the head of government affairs for the company. Additionally, he is responsible for new developments.

“We are highly grateful to the Indian authorities for allowing us to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). We would also like to extend our gratitude to our Indian gaming community for their support and patience over the past few months,” stated Sean Hyunil Sohn, expressing his gratitude. Sohn is the CEO of Krafton, Inc. Additionally, “at Krafton, Inc., we are deeply committed to the Indian gaming ecosystem. Our approach has always been India-first, which also serves as the foundation of all our efforts,” he added.
