On January 8, 2024, Adan Canto, best known for his part in the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady, died. According to Deadline, he died of appendicitis and was 42 years old at the time of his death.
After the news broke, Fox and WBTV issued the following statement: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago.”
Stephanie Ann Canto, Adan Canto’s wife, and their two children survive him. Stephanie is a well-known actress who has appeared in films such as The Shot, Maid, and Consider The Man. According to The Sun, she met the Mexican actor while he was filming The Following in Brooklyn in 2012.

Stephanie Ann Canto co-starred alongside Adan Canto in the short film, Before Tomorrow in 2014.
She has been an instructor at the New York Film Academy since 2012, according to her LinkedIn page. At the academy, she teaches Film History, Film Art, Story Board Writing, Life Drawing, and Anatomy. Stephanie is also a sculptor and painter who taught ceramics at Bitter Root Pottery from 2013 to 2015.
After meeting Adan Canto in 2012, the couple married in July 2017. Stephanie shared photos from their special day in a post to commemorate the couple’s anniversary. Adan Canto is seen kissing Stephanie’s forehead on a pier in the photos.
“Every good and every perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights, with whom there is no shadow of turning. You make me better @adancanto,” the caption of the post read.
In 2020, the couple welcomed their first child, Roman Alder Canto. Adan posted a picture of himself and his wife on Instagram a few weeks before their son was born.
“In the next week or so, we will be introducing our first son, Roman Alder Canto to the world. I feel immensely humbled and honored to have been given the blessing of Family,” he wrote.
About two years later, in March 2022, the couple announced the birth of their daughter, Eve Josephine Canto.
Adan Canto’s professional career
Canto grew up in Texas after being born in Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico. At the age of 16, he left home to seek a career as a singer and guitarist in Mexico City. He began performing in local commercials and TV shows while there before being scouted for a role in Kevin Williamson’s 2013 series, The Following.
Cantothen went on to play a variety of characters, including Vice President-elect Aaron Shore in Designated Survivor for three seasons. He also appears as Rodrigo Lara Bonilla in Narcos and Second Chance.
Adan has spent the last two years on The Cleaning Lady portraying mobster Arman Morales. In addition to X-Men: Days of Future Past, he played significant roles in 2 Hearts, Bruised, and Agent Game.
