On Friday, Denis Villeneuve’s latest movie Dune had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. At the ceremony, Dune received an eight-minute standing ovation. The forthcoming American epic science fiction film is based on Frank Herbert’s eponymous science fiction novel.
Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, were present. Many other celebrities also attended the event. Chalamet played the protagonist in the film. According to ANI, he also garnered the greatest clapping and cheers from the audience around the cinema.

The film received a loud standing ovation for an uninterrupted eight minutes. It was following its international premiere at the Venice Film Festival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Chloe Zhao hurried down the aisle. It was to greet the Dune filmmaker and exclaimed, “Fantastic!”. Zhao was also a member of the festival’s competition jury this year.
The premier of Dune took place in Sala Grande in Venice. A few audience members managed to enjoy a warm and spacious evening. Because of the pandemic, the regular capacity of 1,200 people shot down to 600. The eagerly anticipated movie will premiere in Europe on September 15. Also in the United States on October 22 in theatres and on HBO Max.
