Transformers: The movie returns to theaters for its 35th anniversary

Transformers: The Movie

The Transformers: The Movie, a 1986 animated film, is going to return to theatres for its 35th anniversary. The Transformers: The Movie was the first big-screen version of the Hasbro toy line. It began broadcasting its original television series in 1984. The movie released in August 1986 had an all-star ensemble that included Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, and Eric Idle. Also, the cinematic icon Orson Welles, who recorded the voice of Unicron only days before passing away.

The film’s first theatrical release did not meet with much critical or commercial success. But its subsequent home video version immediately became a fan favorite. With the film’s 35th anniversary coming, Comicbook.com reports that Fathom Events and Hasbro are joining together to bring it back to the big screen. As part of the festivities, a new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray will also be releasing. Regarding the film’s theatrical re-release, Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events, said:

“Fathom is thrilled to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the release of THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE in partnership with Hasbro. It’s exciting to give the fans of this cult classic an opportunity to see this film on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen.”

Transformers Movie series

Michael Bay and Travis Knight’s live-action adaptations bring the Transformers movie series back to life. Also, a seventh film in the franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is now in production. Steven Caple Jr is going to direct it. Despite all of these live-action features, many fans of the original animated picture see it as one of the greatest attempts to bring Transformers to the big screen. Fans of The Transformers: The Movie will no doubt be excited to be able to go to their local cinemas and enjoy a nostalgic trip back in time before Michael Bay’s explosive-laden, CGI-heavy take on the franchise.
