Following accusations, three personnel of the Golden Globes corporation were expelled in a frightening incidence of code of conduct breach. Howaida Hamdy, Munawar Hosain, and Aniko Navai are the three members. Following complaints and inquiries concerning their behavior, they were expelled from the group’s ranks.
It all started with Hamdy, an Egyptian journalist and critic who was the focus of an internal probe last month after reportedly tweeting anti-Semitic remarks in Arabic and including similar sentiments in her reviews. The investigation was begun after CAMERA, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis, produced a report charging Hamdy with “terrorism glorification” and “extremism.”She had been added to the Golden Globes’ voting body in 2021 in an effort to increase diversity among its members.
This inclusiveness campaign arose in response to complaints that the Golden Globes had no Black persons among its then-87 members.
Munawar Hosain, who was born in Bangladesh, joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in 1993, while Navai, who was born in Hungary, joined in 1999. Following the dissolution of the HFPA, these three members, along with others, became Golden Globe workers after Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge acquired all of the HFPA’s assets, rights, and properties and transformed the endeavor into a for-profit business.
The Golden Globes 2024 ceremony is scheduled for January 10, 2024.
