Cost of production: $271 million

Kevin Costner lived on a trimaran in the sea, which was once Earth before all the ice covers liquefied and dry land turned into a far-off memory. The Costner-featuring flick of 1995 was the most costly film created during that time. Notwithstanding Waterworld’s advanced setting, critics were unimpressed by the wet exhibitions. Despite being one of the most expensive movies ever made, it’s likely the most acclaimed flop in film history; the film took just $88 million from the US film industry, despite its insane production spends.

3. John Carter (2012)

Director: Andrew Stanton

Cost of production: $263 million

The expense of John Carter was ridiculously crazy. It cost Disney somewhere near $200 million, making it the organization’s greatest failure ever. The individual expense of the film additionally wasn’t so little.

most expensive movies

Director: Nathan Greno, Byron Howard

Cost of production: $260 million

Tangled was so costly fundamentally due to the amount of time required to get the story right. The producers took around ten years of different iterations at the film they ended up scrapping everything and started once again. It is a rare engaging Disney animation that failed to recover its cost. Tangled ultimately made profits when it was released in worldwide theaters.

5. Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Director: Sam Raimi

Cost of production: $258 million

Spidy-2 grand success laid the ground for an extravagant budget for Spiderman-3. the studio likely didn’t have a very remarkable decision on the incredible financial plan. Though the movie was entertaining and loved by the fans, investing so much into the production was not a wise decision from a business point of view.
