The British royal family has never been fans of Netflix’s ‘The Crown,’ so the latest revelation in the upcoming season 5 may not sit well with them. The show will feature the controversial ‘Panorama’ interview of the late Princess Diana with Martin Bashir.
During the conversation, the princess reveals some shocking details about her marriage. The royal family in general along with many people have criticised the interview. According to one account, Bashir used “deceptive tactics” to get the interview. “The Crown’s creators see the interview as the keystone moment in the series,” an insider informs. “To the writers, the stormy marriage between Charles and Di led up to her outpouring on Panorama, and the aftermath of that decision defined her final months.”
The interview has Diana admitting to having an extramarital affair. She referred to Charles’ own affair with his now-wife Camilla. The award-winning series ‘The Crown’ has chronicled Queen Elizabeth II’s tenure as monarch since her coronation. It has highlighted many famous situations faced by the family over the years, such as the queen’s coronation and Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s romance and marriage, among other things.
The “Panorama” interview sparked outrage earlier this year when an independent investigation led by Lord Dyson discovered that the BBC “fell short of the high standards of integrity and transparency that are its hallmark.” Bashir was also discovered to have faked paperwork to gain the interview, according to the probe. Bashir apologized but said he was “proud” of the interview.
“The ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life,” Prince Harry informs. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a multi-year deal at Netflix. The couple will make documentaries, feature films, scripted television shows, and children’s series.
