China’s Korean War epic movie ‘The Battle at Lake Changjin’ is the highest-grossing movie for 2021. It surpassed all Marvel movies. The film is a mandatory watch for all Chinese government employees. It recreates the bloody struggle conducted by the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army on the Chosin Reservoir. It is also known as Lake Changjin, against United Nations troops led by Americans. The triumph of the Chinese in the combat resulted in the eventual departure of US troops from North Korea.

The three-hour film, set during the Korean War (1950–1953) and featuring actor Wu Jing and singer Jackson Yee, portrays the narrative of Chinese soldiers fighting against American troops in frigid temperatures during a major campaign at Lake Changjin, or Chosin Reservoir.

Chen Kaige, Tsui Hark, and Dante Lam are co-directors for The Battle at Lake Changjin. The film has made a collection of $845 million in 29 days, surpassing ‘Hi, Mom’, which earned $821 million initially over 12 months over a 90-day interval.

Meanwhile, there are rumours about the sequel of the movie. The title for this will be ‘Water Gate Bridge’. This will follow the Chinese soldiers of the same company as they take on a new task. The date of release is not out yet.
